Classes and Workshops

Class and Workshop Overview

Art classes will be available for adults and young adults in the New Jersey and Philaladelphia area. All skill levels are accepted from beginning students to more advanced with a maximum enrollment of 15 students per class. Smaller classes promote faster learning with more attention given to each student. Students may work in a variety of mediums such as pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, gouache or acrylic paint. Subscribing to my website is encouraged to keep informed of new classes, dates and times as they are added to the calendar.

A Basic Approach to Teaching

My approach to teaching is very casual yet structured at the same time. I encourage students to explore various approaches so their individual style can emerge. I am a firm believer in understanding the fundamentals of drawing and painting. Once one grasps the rules of art and design, it can be  even more fun breaking them. I encourage my students to listen to their inner voice during the art creation process, be spontaneous but also know when step by step planning is needed to achieve the results you are seeking. Most importantly, the process of art should be fun, relaxing and creative!

Mixed Media: Gouache and Pastels

$90

10 sessions

In this 10-week class, learn to use opaque watercolor (gouache) as an underpainting with bold applications of pastels on top to create paintings loaded with color and vitality! Explore endless color possibilities with this approach to art. The matte finish of the two mediums allows for the perfect union and is challenging to the viewer to discern where the gouache ends and the pastel begins.
