Mark Collins - Artist Statement

​

Mark has been a professional artist for 30 years. Mark is a graduate from the University of the Arts (UArts) in Philadelphia, PA. As a formally trained illustrator/painter, Mark primarily teaches and works in pencil, color pencil, charcoal, pastels, watercolor, gouache, acrylics and digital design. Mark also has a background working in and teaching textile screen printing, ceramics, jewelry making and wood working.

 

Mark has been an Art Therapist, Graphic Designer, Art Instructor and Fine Artist. Mark's resume includes over 10 years of experience as an Art Instructor. He has instructed both fine art and digital art at the Art Institute of Philadelphia for 7 years. At the Art Institute of Philadelphia he taught in various departments to include graphic design, multi media, fashion and animation. He also has taught on the high school level as well as at various art centers and art stores such as VisArts, Artists & Makers Art Studios and Plaza Artists Materials in Rockville Maryland.

 

Mark's graphic design background has been a fortunate one where he was a designer for Fox and the WB television stations. There he was a designer for the 10 O'clock News, Eagles Game Day Live, Flyers Post Game Report and Good Day Philadelphia. Mark later left TV and moved into corporate design where he was a graphic designer for Professional Jeweler Magazine and Pep Boys. He specialized in commercial print advertising, magazine layout and editing as well as designing for corporate websites.

 

Mark recently has exhibited his fine art at VisArts, MAA Gallery, and Artists & Makers Art Studios in Rockvile, Maryland and at 28 East Gallery in Burlington City, NJ.
